R is for Rainbow

Last week, we learned about rainbows.  We made a rainbow with light and water and also talked about how the order of the colors in the rainbow spells ROY G. BIV.  The students then made their own Roy G. Biv with rainbow hair.  The students did great remembering the order of the colors of the rainbow when completing this activity.

At another activity, the students cut out a cloud, glued on streamers in rainbow color order, then wrote the word Rainbow on the cloud.

We also discussed how to make certain colors by using two other colors.  We used food coloring to dye rice the colors of the rainbow and then had fun playing with it.

St. Patrick's Day Fun

The week leading up to our St. Patrick's day parade, we had fun engaging in activities centered on St. Patrick's day. Pot's of gold, shamrocks, and the color green were present in our activities!

At one center the students filled pots labeled with different numbers with the appropriate number of
gold coins.
