It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas part 2

Some other events and activities we have enjoyed over the past two weeks:

Story time at the library

We love our friends!

Posing with our friends on the playground

Enjoying jazz music.  We visited Mrs. Heather's classroom to listen to one of the dad's play his saxophone.  The students really enjoyed listening to the rich, vibrant tones and learning a little bit about the instrument.

Creating with play-doh

Enjoying a science center with a scale, rocks and shells, and magnifying glasses.

Playing pass the bean bag

Friends enjoying working on a puzzle together

Christmas words crayon rubbings - the students were amazed when I demonstrated how the words would appear if you placed a paper over raised letters and rubbed with a crayon!  They really had fun with this activity and you may have noticed several of these papers come home today.

Today we talked about the letter C and decorated both an uppercase and a lowercase letter Cc with Christmas stickers.

Writing how many days until Christmas!!  Each day, as part of his or her duties, the line leader writes the number of days left until Christmas after we count on our Calendar.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas Part 1

December is here!!  We have been enjoying a lot of Christmas activities and crafts over the past two weeks.  We have also been eagerly preparing for our Christmas program by singing some both new and familiar Christmas songs.

Making snowmen ornaments (the students worked their pincer grasp by peeling stickers to decorate their snowman.)

Working on our sequencing and ordering skills.

At one of our centers last week, we made Christmas trees by ordering strips of decorative paper from longest to shortest.  The kids did a great job and the trees turned out super cute.  They are now decorating our hallway!

Decorating Christmas tree ornaments with sequins and sparkly pom poms

Putting the finishing touches on our Christmas tree placemats

Christmas Tree number recognition activity - for this activity, the students had to place the corresponding amount of sequins on each numbered tree.  The students are doing great with one-to-one correspondence.

Playing in our Christmas inspired sensory bin

The students have also had fun putting on and taking off ornaments at our Christmas tree decorating center.
